Sale! Full Pallet Mixed Heat logs for Large Stove Ready to Burn | Wood Fuel Coop

Best for the biggest stoves, this mix will give a good balance of heat output and long-burn time. Big briquettes fill the firebox, improving performance.

    Large Stove Mix

Our Large Stove mix is designed specifically for bigger, greedy stoves.

    Made from:

    • Dr. Heat Firelighters are made in the UK from dried chopped miscanthus grass soaked in scented candle wax waste from a candle manufacturing factory.
    • Roastie Toasties are bags pf pre-snapped Woodlets briquettes, which are softwood briquettes made in Scotland.
    • Lewis RUF are economic but excellent RUF blocks, made in Canada from white pine.
    • Woodlets Nestro are made in Scotland from softwood forest thinnings.
    • BushBlok are made by the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia from acacia scrub cleared to maintain Cheetah habitat.
    • Beech Nestro are made from fine ground pure beech sawdust generated as a by-product from furniture, floor and house frame manufacture.

    Burning characteristics:

    • Dr. Heat Firelighters light easily and burn for about ten minutes, easily setting light to any good dry kindling. We like the fact they are a UK product and a highly effective, easy to use lighter.
    • Roastie Toasties can be used as a kindling to light or revive any fire.  They can be variable in length with the longer briquettes being best for using as a main fuel whilst the shorter ones are best for use as a kindling.
    • Lewis RUF are a great RUF block. They are made from highly compacted softwood with no bark and a fine particle size. Ideal used in a V shape to start the fire. They light easily and burn for a couple of hours with an excellent flame. Being pure softwood with no bark they have a low ash content.
    • Woodlets Nestro are made in Scotland from softwood forest thinnings. They are very dense cylindrical briquette with a hole through the middle to encourage airflow.
    • BushBlok are an excellent pini-kay briquette. Made from scrub, they have a high bark content, which means they produce more ash, helping them burn for longer. Many customers find they will stay in overnight, as well as produce excellent heat for general burning. They burn with a lovely flame, for a couple of hours before glowing for a couple more hours.
    • Beech Nestro are acclaimed by many to be the best briquette in Europe. They are made from pure beech hardwood ground to a fine particle size and densely compacted into 4 x 2.5kg briquettes per 10kg pack. They are exceptionally clean to handle, even when broken, making them popular with asthma sufferers. Burnt whole or cracked into smaller sections they generate a good flame and burn for several hours with a lovely hot glow. Truly the best main fuel briquette you will ever experience.

Large Stove Mix is perfect for:

This mix is ideal for larger stoves, which can be greedy to feed. The Beech Nestro, Woodlets Nestro and Lewis RUF are all large enough to fill a big stove and give good long-burning times.

None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

The briquetting industry uses plastic to wrap wood briquettes in order to ensure they stay dry, as damp briquettes break up and are unsuitable for burning. The environmental impact of our products is important to us, so we are constantly working with our suppliers to improve the sustainability of their packaging by using cardboard in place of plastic wherever possible.

  • Everyday Value Briquettes

Sale! Five UK Hard Briquettes Ready to Burn | Wood Fuel Coop

A British made hardwood briquette, ideal for small stoves under 5kw. Very easy to break (may already be broken in some packs).

    Everyday Value Briquettes

    Made from:

Everyday Value Briquettes (formerly known as UK Hard) are a cylindrical briquette made from a mixture of hardwoods. They’re made in England using sawdust produced from the manufacture of hardwood mouldings for furniture. Each 5kg pack contains four briquettes that very easily break into smaller sections, many may already be broken.

    Burning characteristics:

They are easy to light and quick to reach a high operating temperature, which enables your stove to work at maximum efficiency. They burn with a lively flame to start with, then turn red hot and provide a good steady heat for a couple of hours. Everyday Value Briquettes will expand lengthways as they burn, so place them across your fire rather than pointing towards the hearth.

    Perfect for:

Smaller stoves under 5kw. Break them up into smaller pieces and place them around one firelighter for a quick and easy way to light the fire, or use as a main fuel.

None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

  • UK RUF Oak

Sale! Three RUF Oak Briquettes Ready to Burn | Wood Fuel Coop

Dense, clean hardwood blocks, made principally from pure oak. Very popular, easy to use and give great heat. Easy to handle and store. Use alone or alongside other fuels.

    UK RUF Oak

    Description:

UK RUF Oak briquettes are an extremely dense and very clean hardwood briquette made principally from Oak sawdust from a Northumbrian joinery business

Because they’re square, RUF blocks don’t roll in the hearth, so they’re easy and safe to use in an open fire.

    Burning characteristics:

Giving out a steady heat with a nice flame, these are really easy-to-use-briquettes. They burn for around two to four hours depending on airflow and give off good heat for the duration of their burn time.

    Perfect for:

UK RUF Oak are best used as a ‘heat sink’ in the back of the fire, where they will glow for several hours and help create a really good heart in your fire. Having said that though, many people use these as a sole fuel throughout the burn. They are a handy size so they’re excellent on a smaller stove or open fire, but they’re still chunky enough to give a really good burn time.

Our briquettes are all additive-free. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

  • Beech Nestro

Sale! Three Beech Nestro Briquettes Ready to Burn and Best Quality | Wood Fuel Coop

Fine Beech sawdust grindings; dense and very clean. The best briquette in our range.

These expand by around 25% so must be broken in half for smaller stoves.

    Beech Nestro

    Made from:

Beech Nestro are made in Germany from pure beech grindings, which produce a dense, dust-free briquette. The beech sawdust comes from a company producing high-end beech products and structures. These Beech Nestro are quite simply the best briquette we have ever found – probably the best briquette in the world. Two will last up to four hours with excellent heat and flame characteristics. They generate a consistent heat in the stove temperature ‘sweet spot’ so you don’t have to be up and down loading the stove or adjusting the air flow.

    How to use:

On my 5kw stove two Beech Nestro briquettes will last around four hours. Here is how I use them. Crack one Beech Nestro in half by holding it at each end and bringing it down sharply over the back of a neighbouring briquette or other hard surface (not your hearth or it may break your hearth). They are pretty tough so you can only easily break into half. More than that requires a hammer. Whilst you are at it, crack another into half so now you have four halves. Lay two halves in the bottom of your stove in an open ‘V’. In the centre of the ‘V’ place a lit firelighter and a pickle of kindling (5 or 6 sticks). On top of the kindling place another half of Beech Nestro so that the broken end can catch the flames from the kindling. Open the air vents fully. After about 10 to 15 minutes you will have a good fire going. Start to reduce the air flow accordingly. Those three ‘half briquettes’ will burn for about 2 hours and give off an excellent heat. Your stove thermometer should be reading around 200C. When you require more heat or flame place the remaining half briquette on the hot embers and that will burn for another 1.5 to 2 hours. Note: All stoves and flues are different so may burn faster or slower than mine. What works in my stove may not work in your stove, so proceed with care and be sure not to overload your fire.

    Burning characteristics:

Each chunky log weighs around 2.5kg, so they’re great for bigger stoves. For smaller stoves, just break them into half before using. This is easy to do, – break them by sharply tapping two of the heat logs together. They’re very highly compressed, so they produce almost no dust and this density helps them burn for several hours. Best of all, they also produce huge amounts of heat with an attractive flame. They expand by about 25% as they burn, so place them across the firebox and just use small amounts until you’re confident with their burning characteristics on your particular stove or fire.

These are the best briquette we’ve ever stocked – they give great heat, very clean burning and are dust free, so they’re much better for people with asthma.

    Perfect for:

Great for both stoves and open fires.  For most stoves we recommend breaking them in half, as they will expand a little while burning.

None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.
