Our Best of British Bundle is suitable for large or small stoves, but please crack the larger briquettes into half for use in a smaller stove. As to burn time, it is impossible for us to predict as some people burn ’24/7′ whilst others burn ‘as and when required’. Also, some people have large greedy stoves and some have small highly efficient stoves.
With any fuel that is new to you, start slowly until you get to know how it performs on your stove. They all burn hotter and longer than traditional logs. You’ll find some work better for you that others but this is a great way to try our full UK range.

These easy-to-use briquettes give out steady heat with an attractive flame. They burn longer and hotter than logs, and much cleaner than coal. If you currently use traditional logs this is a great opportunity to compare heat output, cleanliness and length of burn.

Each pack is plastic wrapped but not always fully sealed. They are not in waterproof packaging. There will often be gaps in the wrap, due to the wrapping process. The wrap is only there to hold the packs together, rather than to weatherproof them. Please take this into account when deciding where to store your briquettes.
Pallets will arrive wrapped in plastic to protect them during their journey. This plastic will temporarily protect them from inclement weather but is not suitable for outside storage. Please ensure you are able to cover/protect the pallet if you are not able to put it under cover immediately.

Pallet Orders are delivered by our partner couriers, Palletways, not our own drivers.
Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.
The maximum weight of a pallet is 980kg.
Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.
If Palletways are unable to deliver to the kerbside of your property, for example because of access restrictions which mean a 7.5t vehicle will not be able to get to the property’s kerbside, we will need to put special delivery arrangements in place. These arrangements may incur additional charges, for which you, the customer, are responsible. If you think you may need alternative arrangements please let us know prior to ordering so we can get a quote for you.

Waxling Firelighters are made from fine, kiln dried pine strands (wood wool) coated in candle wax. They are 100% natural, chemical free and odourless, so no smell on your fingers after handling, and they’re completely safe to use.
Burning characteristics:
A Waxling Firelighter burns for about 8-10 minutes, which is long enough to light any well-built wood fire. Because they’re densely bound, just one in the middle of a handful of cobs or kindlers lights easily. Sometimes you’ll find a Waxling that’s a bit too tightly bound – don’t worry, just twist it a little first to loosen the outer fibres.
There are a few wood wool lighters on the market but many of them are very poor quality, so you need to use a few of them per fire. Waxling Firelighters are one of the best we’ve found, because you only need to use one per fire, which makes them better value then the cheaper packs. They’re also more attractive and cleaner than many alternative brands. Our staff love them!

They are 100% natural, 100% UK made and in cardboard packaging. The colour varies from natural to red or purple, depending on the wax being used. The wax comes from a factory making scented candles and is a waste product that would otherwise end up in landfill. The lighters have a pleasant scent. The production facility is run by solar panels. All packaging materials are 100% recyclable cardboard.

What is Miscanthus?
Miscanthus is a high yielding grass, grown specifically for energy production. Dr Heat’s crops are grown in Somerset and harvested in the Spring when they are naturally ripe. This reduces the need for further drying and removes the use of fossil fuels to do so.
Each tonne of Miscanthus burnt instead of coal, will prevent the emission of up to two tonnes of carbon dioxide. An additional benefit of growing Miscanthus is its ability to actively sequester carbon within the crop’s rhizomes. Miscanthus grows again each your from its extensive and expanding rhizome structure, so no need for annual planting with the associated additional carbon footprint.
Miscanthus is recognised as the number one energy crop by the biggest power producers in the UK. It is a carbon neutral replacement for coal.

Premium Kindling Sticks
What are our Premium Kindling Sticks made from?
Premium Kindling sticks are made in the UK from local, sustainably sourced softwoods. They are kiln-dried, making them ideal for easy firelighting. These kindlers are an even size and length, at approx 20cm, and they are stacked neatly in a net.
How do I use Premium Kindling Sticks?
Our Premium Kindling Sticks are quick to light from a firelighter. We recommend using four to six sticks per fire, loosely stacked on top of a firelighter. Once lit, they will burn rapidly for 10 minutes or so, and your main fuel will catch well from these lively flames.
We find that traditional kindling burns quicker than Hotmax or UK Hardwood Briquettes, so if you struggle with firelighting try using one of those instead. If you enjoy tradition though, our Premium Kindling will ignite a well-laid wood based fire easily and effectively.
What are Premium Kindling Sticks suitable for?
They’re ideal for starting a wood-based fire; once the fire is burning well, you can use any mixture of kiln-dried logs, wood briquettes, and smokeless fuels to get the best from your fire.

Hotmax is a handy little briquette, especially when you want heat quickly. The pieces are smaller than many other briquettes, making them useful for lighting the fire, bringing fading embers back to life or using as the main fuel in a smaller stove.
What is Hotmax made from?
Hotmax is made in the UK from softwood sawdust and bark left over from the production of dust-free horse bedding. The timber comes from sustainably managed British forestry.
It’s a useful way of turning a wood by-product that would otherwise have gone to landfill into a practical fuel.
There are no chemicals, additives or artificial binders. The cobs are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and held together by compression alone.
What is Hotmax best used for?
Hotmax comes into its own when you need to get a fire going quickly. Two or three cobs will produce plenty of flame and heat, helping to create a useful bed of embers.
It’s particularly good for:
- Starting the fire
- Reviving a fire that’s beginning to die
- Replacing traditional kindling
- Producing quick heat
- Building a good ember base
- Fuelling a smaller stove
Hotmax fuel logs come in different lengths, and the larger ones can be broken down if necessary.
How do I light Hotmax?
Place a handful of Hotmax cobs around a Waxling firelighter, with the firelighter in the middle. Make sure there’s enough space for air to move between the pieces, then light the firelighter.
The smaller pieces should catch quickly and help establish the fire. Once they’re burning properly, add more fuel as required.
Hotmax can also be used to revive a dying fire. Add a few pieces to the remaining embers to produce a quick burst of heat and flame.
Can Hotmax be used as the main fuel?
Yes. Hotmax works well as the main fuel in a smaller stove.
It produces its heat relatively quickly, so it’s particularly useful when you want to warm the room without waiting for a large, dense briquette to get going.
Every stove and flue combination behaves differently, so the results can vary between appliances.
Does Hotmax expand while it burns?
Hotmax expands slightly during burning, so don’t fill the firebox too tightly.
Position the pieces carefully and leave enough room for them to expand without touching the stove glass or falling onto the hearth. Larger pieces can be broken into smaller sections to fit the stove more comfortably.

The cobs hold their shape well, which makes them clean and straightforward to handle.
How should Hotmax be stored?
Hotmax must be kept completely dry. A dry garage, watertight shed, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding is ideal. It can also be stored inside the house or in a watertight plastic garden store.
Don’t store briquettes in a traditional open log store or anywhere damp. They’re already very dry and will absorb moisture if exposed to it. Once damp, they begin to expand and can eventually turn back into sawdust.
Is the packaging waterproof?
No. Hotmax is supplied in a paper sack, which isn’t waterproof. The bags need to be kept dry and moved under cover as soon as possible.
Pallets arrive plastic wrapped to protect the bags during transport. This gives temporary protection from the weather, but it isn’t suitable for outdoor storage.

Express Packs are sent by parcel courier, while pallet orders are delivered kerbside by a pallet courier.
Pallet deliveries normally arrive on an 18-tonne lorry with a tail lift. If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, your order must weigh no more than 720kg. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and mention the smaller vehicle in your order notes.

Express Packs:
Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.
We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.

Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this. As a guide, please check the measurements:
Length of vehicle: 11 metres; Height of vehicle 4 metres. 18T & 7.5T vehicles are the same width.
The driver may not be able to access your road if there are:
• low overhead lines or low hanging branches
• low bridges or bridges with weight limits
• narrow access roads that prevent the vehicle manoeuvering/turningRestricted Access
If you think that an 18 tonne lorry will not be able to access your road, we can ask Palletways to use a smaller vehicle. For this option, please ensure:
• your order weighs no more than 720kg
• you tick the ‘Access Restrictions’ button at checkout

Hotmax is made in the UK from softwood sawdust and bark left over from the production of dust-free horse bedding.
The timber comes from sustainably managed British forestry, and the material used to make Hotmax would otherwise have gone to landfill.
Nothing artificial is added. The pieces are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and held together by compression alone.
What is Hotmax best used for?
We find Hotmax comes into its own when a fire needs a quick boost. Two or three pieces produce fast heat and flame, leaving a good ember base behind.
It’s particularly useful for:
- Starting the fire
- Reviving a fire that’s beginning to fade
- Replacing traditional kindling
- Producing heat quickly
- Fuelling a smaller stove
How do I light it?
Put a handful of Hotmax pieces around a Waxling firelighter, with the firelighter in the middle. Once lit, the Hotmax should catch quickly and begin building a bed of embers.
It works much the same way when reviving a fire. Add a few pieces to the remaining embers to bring back the heat and flame.
Does Hotmax expand while burning?
It expands slightly, so don’t pack the firebox too tightly.
Leave the pieces enough room and position them carefully so they can’t expand against the stove glass or out onto the hearth. Larger pieces can be broken if necessary.

How should I store it?
Hotmax must be kept completely dry. A dry garage, watertight shed, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding is ideal. It can also be stored inside the house or in a watertight plastic garden store.
Don’t leave it in a traditional open log store, an uncovered area or anywhere damp. If the briquettes absorb moisture, they’ll begin to expand and can eventually turn back into sawdust.
Is the packaging waterproof?
No. Each 20kg pack is plastic wrapped, but the wrapping isn’t always fully sealed. Its main purpose is to hold the fuel together rather than protect it from the weather.
Pallets are also plastic wrapped during transport. This gives some temporary protection, but it isn’t suitable for outdoor storage. Make sure you can move the fuel under cover or protect it when it arrives.

Would the 10kg version suit me better?
The fuel is the same; it’s the pack size and packaging that are different.

What should I know about delivery?
Delivery to most mainland UK postcodes is included in the pallet prices shown. Offshore and some mainland addresses may cost more, which can be checked using our postcode checker.
Express Packs are sent by parcel courier. Pallet orders are delivered kerbside by Palletways, usually on an 18-tonne lorry with a tail lift.
If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, keep your order to no more than 720kg. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and mention the smaller vehicle in your order notes.

What are UK Hardwood Briquettes made from?
UK Hardwood Briquettes are a cylindrical wood briquette made from mixed hardwoods. They’re produced in England using sawdust from the manufacture of hardwood mouldings for furniture. They are 100% pure, untreated wood dust, with no additives or binders.
Each 5kg pack contains four briquettes that easily hand-break into smaller sections if required.

Anything else I should know?
These are economy briquettes, not long-burners. They’re great for smaller stoves and for quickly heating up the room but they’re not an ideal main fuel for larger stoves. They’re not a replacement for Beech Nestro or Woodlets, but they are brilliant when used alongside longer-burning products. Some people find they produce some dust, especially when broken, so keep this in mind.
They need completely dry storage in order to keep them at their best.
Do wood briquettes have anything artifical in them?
None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.
In order to place wood briquettes on the UK market, we have to have Ready to Burn certificates for them. This involves regular chemical analyses of the briquettes to ensure that they are 100% pure wood with no additives or binders. It also reassures you that they are dry and safe to burn.

Roastie Toasties are already supplied as shorter pieces, ranging from approximately 50mm to 160mm in length.
They should fit comfortably into most small stoves without any further breaking. If you need a smaller piece, they’re easy to divide by hand.
Can I use Roastie Toasties in an open fire?
Yes. They work well in open fires as well as stoves.

Woodlets are premium-grade briquettes made in Scotland from softwood sawdust. They produce excellent heat with an attractive flame and are suitable for general burning in stoves and open fires.
Their rounded-square shape is practical as well as distinctive: it helps stop the briquettes from rolling around on the fire. They’re also easy to break, so you can adjust the size to suit your stove.

Woodlets are made from mixed softwood sawdust from sustainably managed British forests.
They contain no additives, chemicals or artificial binders. The untreated wood by-product is held together by compression alone.
What are they like to burn?
Woodlets give strong heat with a lively, attractive flame. Each briquette has an active burn time of around 1.5–2 hours, although this will vary depending on your stove, flue and airflow settings.

Woodlets expand by approximately 25% of their length as they burn. We recommend breaking them in half and using one half at a time. When lighting the fire, use three half-briquettes.
Be careful not to position a full briquette where it could expand against the stove glass or out onto the hearth.
Can I use Woodlets in an open fire?
Yes. Woodlets work well in open fires as well as stoves.
Their square profile is particularly useful here because it helps to stop the briquettes from rolling as they burn.

How should Woodlets Briquettes be stored?
Like all wood briquettes, Woodlets need to be kept completely dry.
A watertight shed, dry garage, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding is suitable. They can also be stored inside the house or in a watertight plastic garden store.
Don’t leave them in a traditional open log store, an uncovered area or a damp building. Briquettes are already very dry, so they’ll absorb moisture if exposed to it. Once damp, they begin to expand and can eventually turn back into sawdust.
Is the packaging waterproof?
No. Each pack is wrapped in plastic to hold the briquettes together, but the wrapping isn’t fully sealed or waterproof.
Pallets are also plastic wrapped to protect them during transport. This offers temporary protection from the weather, but it isn’t suitable for outdoor storage. Make sure you can move the fuel under cover or protect it when it arrives.

Due to industry regulation changes, if you require a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle the maximum pallet weight you can order is 720kgs. If you are unsure what vehicle size you need please phone us on 01387 731 210 to discuss your requirements.
Pallet Orders are delivered by our partner couriers, TPN, not our own drivers.
Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.
The maximum weight of a pallet for non-restricted access deliveries is 980kg.
Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.
A good guide is to expect the driver to leave your pallet where your bin goes out for collection.
If TPN are unable to deliver to the kerbside of your property, for example because of access restrictions which mean a 7.5t vehicle will not be able to get to the property’s kerbside, we will need to put special delivery arrangements in place. These arrangements may incur additional charges, for which you, the customer, are responsible. If you think you may need alternative arrangements please let us know prior to ordering so we can get a quote for you.

Express Packs:
Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.
We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.

The driver may not be able to access your road if there are:
• low overhead lines or low hanging branches
• low bridges or bridges with weight limits
• narrow access roads that prevent the vehicle manoeuvering/turningRestricted Access
If you think that an 18 tonne lorry will not be able to access your road, we can ask TPN to use a smaller vehicle. For this option, please ensure:
• your order weighs no more than 720kg
• you tick the ‘Access Restrictions’ button at checkout

Packaging
To keep them in good condition, these briquettes come in plastic wrapped packs. Please check with your local authority for recycling facilities. Packs are plastic wrapped but not always fully sealed, as the pakaging is there to hold the briquettes in place, not to waterproof them. Please take this into account when deciding where to store your briquettes. Pallets will arrive wrapped in plastic to protect them during their journey. This plastic will temporarily protect them from inclement weather but is not suitable for outside storage. Please ensure you are able to cover/protect the pallet if you are not able to put it under cover immediately.This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page -

RUF Long Burn is a dense softwood briquette made from the bark of UK softwood conifer trees.
Because they’re square, RUF blocks don’t roll in the hearth, so they’re easy and safe to use in an open fire.
Burning characteristics:
RUF Long Burn react quickly to air flow. They light easily and burn brightly with the stove vents open but quickly go into slumber mode with the air vents closed. In slumber mode they will last anywhere between four and eight hours depending on air flow and the quality of your stove.
