Using Beech Nestro

The sawdust comes from a German company that makes beech buildings and flooring.

Using Hardwood Pini-Kay
The hole through each briquette lets air flow through the fuel, helping it light and get up to temperature. You can use the briquettes whole as your main fuel or break them into smaller pieces to help start a fire.

Using Roastie Toasties
The different-sized pieces let you choose how much fuel to add to a small stove or a larger fire. If you need an even smaller piece, they’re generally easy to break by hand. What are they like to burn?
UK Hardwood Briquettes light readily and bring a stove up to temperature quickly. They burn faster than denser products such as Beech Nestro or RUF Oak. You can use them as the main fuel in a smaller stove or pair them with a denser briquette when you want a longer burn.
Break a briquette into pieces to help light a fire with a natural firelighter, or add a few pieces to hot embers to revive a fading fire. Burn time will vary with your stove, flue and airflow settings. If you’re unsure which fuel will suit your stove, try our Wood Briquette Finder.
You can also use them on an open fire. Break longer briquettes into shorter pieces, place them well back from the front and add them gradually. They may expand as they burn, so leave space around them, whether you’re using an open fire or a stove. Don’t place them against the stove glass, and use a suitable fireguard with an open fire.
You may find a little loose sawdust in a pack, especially if a briquette has broken during handling. This is normal and does not affect how it burns.

The Wood Fuel Co-operative offers you the ability to Pick and Mix your own pallet of wood fuel. This unique service, where we build a pallet to your exact requirements, is a flexible, cost-effective way to buy your briquettes.
‘Mix Your Own’ Pallets start with a base charge of £65, which covers the cost of packing, wrapping, strapping and delivering (surcharges apply for offshore) your pallet. This lets us offer you the unique ability to have total flexibility with your choice and quantity of products. You can put as much or as little on your base pallet as you choose, of any combination of briquettes, as long as you stay within the maximum 980kg weight limit.
Due to industry regulation changes, if you require a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle the maximum pallet weight you can order is 720kgs. If you are unsure what vehicle size you need please phone us on 01387 731 210 to discuss your requirements.
Each pallet must have no more than 980kg on it; you will be alerted if your order exceeds the weight limit. You can order multiple ‘Mix Your Own’ Pallets but you must add each pallet to your basket separately. There are quantity restrictions on some items; this is due to packaging requirements.

RUF Long Burn
RUF Long Burn briquettes are a softwood bark briquette, produced in England.

RUF Long Burn briquettes are a dense, slow-burning wood fuel made in the UK from compressed softwood bark. They’re designed for customers who want a steady, longer-lasting burn rather than lots of quick heat.
Their dense construction and high bark content mean they burn more slowly than many standard wood briquettes. Once established, they produce a consistent heat and can be turned down in a suitable stove for an extended burn.

They really come into their own in a stove, where controlling the airflow allows you to slow the burn right down and get the best from their long-burning characteristics.
For the longest burn, we recommend adding them to a well-established fire or hot ember bed. If you’re using them on an open fire, they’ll still give a steady, long-lasting burn, but you won’t have the same control over the burn rate that you get with a stove.
How We Use RUF Long Burn
These are a slightly unusual briquette, so it’s worth explaining how we use them ourselves.
In my 5kW stove, I use RUF Long Burn at the end of the evening. Once the main fire has died down and there’s a good bed of hot embers, I place one or two briquettes directly onto the ember bed and close the airflow down fully.
With two RUF Long Burn added at around 10pm, I regularly find the fire is still in at 6am the following morning. By then, the briquettes have burned down to solid, glowing hearts roughly the size of a block of butter. They’re not producing fierce heat, but they help keep the chill off the room and, importantly, leave a good hot base for restarting the fire.
In the morning, I simply open the airflow again and add fresh fuel over the glowing blocks.
Every stove and chimney behaves differently, so overnight performance can’t be guaranteed. Some stoves are also designed so that the airflow can never be completely closed. If yours is one of these, you should expect a faster burn and therefore a shorter overall burn time.
However, from our experience, if you’re looking for a wood briquette with the best chance of keeping a stove gently slumbering overnight, RUF Long Burn is the one we’d choose.
Burning Characteristics
RUF Long Burn works best once you already have a well-established fire and a good ember bed. It produces a slow, glowing burn rather than lots of flame when the airflow is reduced.
For a longer burn, allow the briquettes to catch before gradually reducing the airflow to the appropriate setting for your stove.

Our Premium Kindling Sticks are quick to light from a firelighter. We recommend using four to six sticks per fire, loosely stacked on top of a firelighter. Once lit, they will burn rapidly for 10 minutes or so, and your main fuel will catch well from these lively flames.
We find that traditional kindling burns quicker than Hotmax or UK Hardwood Briquettes, so if you struggle with firelighting try using one of those instead. If you enjoy tradition though, our Premium Kindling will ignite a well-laid wood based fire easily and effectively.

They’re ideal for starting a wood-based fire; once the fire is burning well, you can use any mixture of kiln-dried logs, wood briquettes, and smokeless fuels to get the best from your fire.

The pellets meet the ENplus A1 quality standard, have a guaranteed energy output of 4,800kWh per tonne and are registered with the Biomass Suppliers List (BSL). Every purchase comes with a BSL-compliant receipt.

Where can I use them?
Woodlets are made for appliances designed to burn 6mm wood pellets, including compatible biomass boilers, pellet stoves and pellet-fired pizza ovens. Check your appliance manufacturer’s fuel requirements before ordering.
Do not use loose wood pellets in an ordinary wood-burning stove, multi-fuel stove or open fire.
Storage
Keep the bags completely dry in a garage, watertight shed or other covered space. The plastic bags and pallet wrapping protect the pellets during delivery, but they aren’t suitable for outdoor storage. Pellets exposed to moisture can swell, break down and cause problems in an appliance’s feed system.
Pallet delivery
Delivery to most Mainland UK postcodes is included in the pallet prices shown. Offshore and some mainland addresses may have an additional charge, which can be checked using our postcode checker and pallet delivery information. Express Packs are sent by parcel courier; see our parcel delivery information for details.
Palletways deliver pallet orders at the kerbside using a tail-lift vehicle and pallet truck. The driver needs a firm, flat, level surface; pallet trucks cannot travel over gravel, grass, steps or uneven ground.
Need a smaller vehicle? Orders requiring a 7.5-tonne vehicle must weigh no more than 720kg. The 960kg full pallet needs suitable access for an 18-tonne vehicle. ENVI8 briquettes are large, dense blocks made from oak and maple sawdust. They give sustained heat in larger stoves. The blocks cannot be broken by hand, so check they’ll fit your firebox before ordering.

ENVI8 blocks cannot be broken by hand and will be too large for many small stoves. Each block measures 240mm × 80mm × 70mm, so check the space in your firebox before ordering.

Using ENVI8
Start your fire with a firelighter and kindling. Once it’s burning well and has a good ember base, add an ENVI8 block. Its size and density help it give sustained heat in a larger stove. Add fuel gradually and follow your stove manufacturer’s instructions.
The blocks are made from clean, kiln-dried sawdust left over from hardwood timber processing.
