Beech Nestro are large, densely pressed heat logs made in Germany from fine beech sawdust. They give off a great deal of heat, burn with an attractive flame and last well on the fire.
In our view, they’re the best briquette in the range. Each log weighs around 2.5kg, making them a natural choice for larger stoves. They’re easy to break in half for smaller fireboxes too.
What are Beech Nestro made from?
Beech Nestro are made from pure beech grindings. The sawdust comes from a German company producing high-end beech buildings and flooring.
Nothing artificial is added. They contain no chemicals or binders and are held together by compression alone.
What are they like to burn?
Beech Nestro give out plenty of heat with an attractive flame. Because the sawdust is finely ground and highly compressed, the logs are dense, clean to handle and produce very little dust.
Two logs can last for up to four hours, providing consistent heat without the stove needing constant attention. Burn time will naturally vary between appliances and according to the airflow.
Which stoves are they suitable for?
Beech Nestro can be used in stoves and open fires of all sizes.
Their size and weight make them particularly useful in larger stoves. For most smaller appliances, simply break each log in half before putting it on the fire.
Half a Beech Nestro can provide plenty of heat for around one to two hours in a 5kW stove.

Should I break them before burning?
We recommend breaking them in half for most stoves. Beech Nestro expands a little as it burns, so it’s important to leave enough room between the fuel and the stove glass.
They’re easy to split. Sharply tapping two heat logs together should break one cleanly in half. For a very small stove, you can divide them into smaller pieces.
Can I use them in an open fire?
Yes. Beech Nestro burns well in open fires as well as stoves.
Depending on the size of your fire, use a whole log or break it into more manageable pieces before burning.
Can I burn Beech Nestro with other fuels?
Yes. They can be used alone as your main fuel or combined with other briquettes and logs.
We often pair Beech Nestro with UK Hardwood Briquettes. The UK Hardwood is quicker to light and reach temperature, while the dense Beech Nestro gives a longer, steadier burn.
They also work well with RUF Oak when you want a long-burning combination with plenty of heat.
Are they easy to light?
Their density means Beech Nestro can take a little more effort to light from cold.
The easiest approach is to establish the fire with a firelighter, kindling or a faster-lighting briquette, then place the Beech Nestro on top. You can also split one into thinner slices, which will catch more easily.

Are Beech Nestro Ready to Burn certified?
Yes. Beech Nestro is Ready to Burn certified and produced from PEFC woodland.
Ready to Burn certification provides reassurance that the fuel is dry and has been checked to ensure it is pure wood without additives or binders.

How should Beech Nestro be stored?
Beech Nestro must be kept completely dry.
Good storage options include a watertight shed, dry garage, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding. Packs can also be kept inside the house or in a watertight plastic garden store.
An open log store isn’t suitable for briquettes. Avoid uncovered outdoor areas and buildings that are damp or humid. If the logs absorb moisture, they’ll begin to swell and can eventually turn back into sawdust.
Is the packaging waterproof?
No. The plastic around each pack is there to hold the logs together and isn’t always fully sealed. It shouldn’t be treated as waterproof packaging.
Pallets are also plastic wrapped for the journey. This gives temporary protection from the weather but isn’t suitable for outdoor storage. Please make sure you can move the fuel under cover or protect it when it arrives.

Beech Nestro is available in several quantities:

What should I know about delivery?
The pallet prices shown include delivery to most of mainland UK. Some mainland and ofshore addresses may carry an additional charge, which can be checked using our postcode checker.
Express Packs are sent with APC. They offer a next-working-day service to most of the UK, although delivery takes two to five days in some areas. Next-working-day delivery isn’t guaranteed.
Pallet orders are delivered kerbside by The Pallet Network (TPN), usually on an 18-tonne lorry with a tail lift.
A smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle can only be requested for orders weighing no more than 720kg. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and mention the smaller vehicle in your order notes.

Due to industry regulation changes, if you require a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle the maximum pallet weight you can order is 720kgs. If you are unsure what vehicle size you need please phone us on 01387 731 210 to discuss your requirements.
Pallet Orders are delivered by our partner couriers, TPN, not our own drivers.
Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.
The maximum weight of a pallet for non-restricted access deliveries is 980kg.
Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.
A good guide is to expect the driver to leave your pallet where your bin goes out for collection.
If TPN are unable to deliver to the kerbside of your property, for example because of access restrictions which mean a 7.5t vehicle will not be able to get to the property’s kerbside, we will need to put special delivery arrangements in place. These arrangements may incur additional charges, for which you, the customer, are responsible. If you think you may need alternative arrangements please let us know prior to ordering so we can get a quote for you.

Express Packs:
Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.
We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.

Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this. As a guide, please check the measurements:
Length of vehicle: 11 metres; Height of vehicle 4 metres. 18T & 7.5T vehicles are the same width.
The driver may not be able to access your road if there are:
• low overhead lines or low hanging branches
• low bridges or bridges with weight limits
• narrow access roads that prevent the vehicle manoeuvering/turningRestricted Access
If you think that an 18 tonne lorry will not be able to access your road, we can ask TPN to use a smaller vehicle. For this option, please ensure:
• your order weighs no more than 720kg
• you tick the ‘Access Restrictions’ button at checkout

Packaging
These briquettes come in plastic wrapped packs. Please check with your local authority for recycling facilities. Each pack is plastic wrapped but not always fully sealed. They are not in waterproof packaging. There will often be gaps in the wrap, due to the wrapping process. The wrap is only there to hold the packs together, rather than to weatherproof them. Please take this into account when deciding where to store your briquettes. Pallets will arrive wrapped in plastic to protect them during their journey. This plastic will temporarily protect them from inclement weather but is not suitable for outside storage. Hardwood Pini-Kay
Hardwood Pini-kay are a beech and oak pini-kay, ideal for stoves and open fires. They don’t expand and they give out excellent heat.

Hardwood Pini-Kay briquettes are made from compressed oak and beech sawdust. They produce excellent heat over a long period, with an attractive flame that makes them a good choice for stoves and open fires.
They don’t expand while burning and hold their shape well. Their compact size, clean handling and high heat output make them a useful all-round briquette.
What are Hardwood Pini-Kay briquettes made from?
Hardwood Pini-Kay is made from oak and beech sawdust compressed into dense blocks.
There are no additives, chemicals or artificial binders. The pure, untreated wood by-product is held together by compression alone.
What are they like to burn?
Pini-Kay gives excellent heat with an attractive flame. Most customers find that a briquette burns well for around two hours, although it may last longer in some stoves.
The briquettes are very densely compressed, so they provide plenty of heat for their size while remaining clean and easy to handle.
Why is there a hole through the middle?
The hole running through each briquette allows air to circulate through the fuel.
This helps the briquette light more easily and get up to temperature quickly.

Hardwood Pini-Kay is suitable for:

Yes. Hardwood Pini-Kay works well in open fires.
The briquettes hold their shape and don’t expand as they burn, which makes them straightforward to position in an open fire.
Do Hardwood Pini-Kay briquettes expand?
No. Unlike some other wood briquettes, Pini-Kay doesn’t expand while burning.

What are these kiln-dried logs made from?
The nets contain locally sourced mixed Scottish hardwood logs.
As this is a natural product, the species, colour, shape and thickness of the logs will vary. Each net gives you a useful mixture of sizes for building and maintaining your fire.
What are they like to burn?
These kiln-dried hardwood logs are easy to light and produce a quick, attractive flame. They give a traditional log fire plenty of character and are a practical choice for everyday burning.
They won’t generally burn for as long or produce as much sustained heat as our densest wood briquettes. However, they’re a good option when you want a lively fire and don’t mind adding fuel more frequently.
The exact burn time and heat output will depend on your stove, chimney or flue, and airflow settings.

The logs are approximately 220–240mm long. They may be too large for some very small stoves, so check your firebox dimensions before ordering.

They produce a quick flame and have the natural appearance and character many people want from a traditional open fire.
When are these logs most useful?
The logs are suitable for everyday burning, but we find them particularly useful during the shoulder months of spring and autumn.
At those times, you may only need the fire for a shorter period and might not require the longer, more intense heat produced by a dense wood briquette.

Yes. These kiln-dried hardwood logs are Woodsure Ready to Burn certified.
They have a moisture content of approximately 12–18%, helping them burn more efficiently than wet or unseasoned wood.

If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, your order must weigh no more than 720kg. The quarter, half and three-quarter pallet options fall within this weight limit, but a full pallet does not. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and request the smaller vehicle in your order notes.

Hotmax is a handy little briquette, especially when you want heat quickly. The pieces are smaller than many other briquettes, making them useful for lighting the fire, bringing fading embers back to life or using as the main fuel in a smaller stove.
What is Hotmax made from?
Hotmax is made in the UK from softwood sawdust and bark left over from the production of dust-free horse bedding. The timber comes from sustainably managed British forestry.
It’s a useful way of turning a wood by-product that would otherwise have gone to landfill into a practical fuel.
There are no chemicals, additives or artificial binders. The cobs are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and held together by compression alone.
What is Hotmax best used for?
Hotmax comes into its own when you need to get a fire going quickly. Two or three cobs will produce plenty of flame and heat, helping to create a useful bed of embers.
It’s particularly good for:

How do I light Hotmax?
Place a handful of Hotmax cobs around a Waxling firelighter, with the firelighter in the middle. Make sure there’s enough space for air to move between the pieces, then light the firelighter.
The smaller pieces should catch quickly and help establish the fire. Once they’re burning properly, add more fuel as required.
Hotmax can also be used to revive a dying fire. Add a few pieces to the remaining embers to produce a quick burst of heat and flame.
Can Hotmax be used as the main fuel?
Yes. Hotmax works well as the main fuel in a smaller stove.
It produces its heat relatively quickly, so it’s particularly useful when you want to warm the room without waiting for a large, dense briquette to get going.
Every stove and flue combination behaves differently, so the results can vary between appliances.
Does Hotmax expand while it burns?
Hotmax expands slightly during burning, so don’t fill the firebox too tightly.
Position the pieces carefully and leave enough room for them to expand without touching the stove glass or falling onto the hearth. Larger pieces can be broken into smaller sections to fit the stove more comfortably.

What are UK Hardwood Briquettes made from?
UK Hardwood Briquettes are a cylindrical wood briquette made from mixed hardwoods. They’re produced in England using sawdust from the manufacture of hardwood mouldings for furniture. They are 100% pure, untreated wood dust, with no additives or binders.
Each 5kg pack contains four briquettes that easily hand-break into smaller sections if required.

What are UK Hardwood Briquettes suitable for?
Our best value economy heat logs, UK Hardwood Briquettes are ideal as a main fuel for stoves up to 5kw. They are also an excellent kindling replacement, with a quick starter flame and instant heat.

How do I use UK Hardwood Briquettes?
Break them up into smaller pieces and place them around one firelighter for a quick and easy way to light the fire. Alternatively, use them in larger pieces as a main fuel in smaller stoves.
Best paired with…
Use them alongside a larger dense long-burn briquette such as Beech Nestro or RUF Oak for maximum efficiency.
Anything else I should know?
These are economy briquettes, not long-burners. They’re great for smaller stoves and for quickly heating up the room but they’re not an ideal main fuel for larger stoves. They’re not a replacement for Beech Nestro or Woodlets, but they are brilliant when used alongside longer-burning products. Some people find they produce some dust, especially when broken, so keep this in mind.
They need completely dry storage in order to keep them at their best.
Do wood briquettes have anything artifical in them?
None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.
In order to place wood briquettes on the UK market, we have to have Ready to Burn certificates for them. This involves regular chemical analyses of the briquettes to ensure that they are 100% pure wood with no additives or binders. It also reassures you that they are dry and safe to burn.

Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.
The maximum weight of a pallet for non-restricted access deliveries is 980kg.
Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.
A good guide is to expect the driver to leave your pallet where your bin goes out for collection.

Express Packs:
Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.
We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.

Made from:
Hotmax 20kg is made in the UK from softwood fines (sawdust and bark) extracted whilst making dust free horse bedding. The wood used is all from sustainably managed British forestry and the Hotmax cobs are made using a product that would have otherwise gone to landfill.
Burning characteristics:
Two or three cobs will produce fast heat and flame, leaving a good ember base. Use a handful of Hotmax with a Waxling firelighter in the centre to get the fire going quickly. They do expand slightly, so place them carefully in the fire so they don’t expand onto the glass window or hearth.
Hotmax 20kg are perfect for:
Starting or reviving a fire. The fact that they’re a bit smaller than some of the other briquettes makes them great for quick heat and they’re brilliant for reviving a dying fire. They’re an ideal kindling replacement but can also be a main fuel in smaller stoves. The cobs come in a variety of sizes but larger ones can be broken if needed. They hold their shape well, so are clean to handle.

The Wood Fuel Co-operative offers you the ability to Pick and Mix your own pallet of wood fuel. This unique service, where we build a pallet to your exact requirements, is a flexible, cost-effective way to buy your briquettes.
‘Mix Your Own’ Pallets start with a base charge of £50, which covers the cost of packing, wrapping, strapping and delivering (surcharges apply for offshore) your pallet. This lets us offer you the unique ability to have total flexibility with your choice and quantity of products. You can put as much or as little on your base pallet as you choose, of any combination of briquettes, as long as you stay within the maximum 980kg weight limit.

Each pallet must have no more than 980kg on it; you will be alerted if your order exceeds the weight limit. You can order multiple ‘Mix Your Own’ Pallets but you must add each pallet to your basket separately. There are quantity restrictions on some items; this is due to packaging requirements.

RUF Long Burn is a dense softwood briquette made from the bark of UK softwood conifer trees.
Because they’re square, RUF blocks don’t roll in the hearth, so they’re easy and safe to use in an open fire.
Burning characteristics:
RUF Long Burn react quickly to air flow. They light easily and burn brightly with the stove vents open but quickly go into slumber mode with the air vents closed. In slumber mode they will last anywhere between four and eight hours depending on air flow and the quality of your stove.

Premium Kindling Sticks
What are our Premium Kindling Sticks made from?
Premium Kindling sticks are made in the UK from local, sustainably sourced softwoods. They are kiln-dried, making them ideal for easy firelighting. These kindlers are an even size and length, at approx 20cm, and they are stacked neatly in a net.
How do I use Premium Kindling Sticks?
Our Premium Kindling Sticks are quick to light from a firelighter. We recommend using four to six sticks per fire, loosely stacked on top of a firelighter. Once lit, they will burn rapidly for 10 minutes or so, and your main fuel will catch well from these lively flames.
We find that traditional kindling burns quicker than Hotmax or UK Hardwood Briquettes, so if you struggle with firelighting try using one of those instead. If you enjoy tradition though, our Premium Kindling will ignite a well-laid wood based fire easily and effectively.
What are Premium Kindling Sticks suitable for?
They’re ideal for starting a wood-based fire; once the fire is burning well, you can use any mixture of kiln-dried logs, wood briquettes, and smokeless fuels to get the best from your fire.
