Description

An image of the UK flag

Woodlets are premium 6mm biomass pellets made in Ayrshire from sustainably sourced British softwood. They’re designed for biomass boilers and specialised pellet stoves, and they also work very well in pellet-fired pizza ovens.

They comply with the ENplus A1 quality standard and have a guaranteed energy output of 4,800kWh per tonne. Woodlets are also registered with the Biomass Suppliers List, and every purchase comes with a BSL-compliant receipt.

What are Woodlets Biomass Pellets made from?

Woodlets are produced from softwood grown in sustainably managed British forests, including FSC-certified forestry.

The pellets are made in Ayrshire using timber from local forests. Keeping production close to the source reduces the distance the raw material needs to travel before it reaches the pellet plant.

What can I use them in?

Woodlets are suitable for biomass boilers, specialised wood-pellet stoves and pizza ovens designed to burn pellets.

They must not be used in an ordinary wood-burning stove, multi-fuel stove or open fire. If you’re unsure, check your appliance manufacturer’s instructions before ordering.

Are they suitable for pizza ovens?

Yes. We’ve used Woodlets in pellet-fired pizza ovens ourselves and found them to work very well. They can be used in compatible Ooni models and other pizza ovens designed specifically for wood pellets.

Although Woodlets are made from softwood, once the wood has been compressed into pellets there is very little practical difference between softwood and hardwood pellets of a similar quality.

You can read more about our experience in our guide to using Woodlets in a pizza oven.

What does ENplus A1 mean?

ENplus A1 is a recognised wood-pellet quality standard. It covers details such as pellet size, moisture, ash content, durability and energy performance.

Woodlets have a consistent 6mm diameter and a low ash content. This helps them feed smoothly and burn reliably in a compatible boiler or pellet stove.

How should I store the pellets?

Wood pellets need to be kept completely dry. A dry garage, watertight shed or other covered building is ideal.

If moisture reaches the pellets, they swell and begin to break down into sawdust. Damp pellets may also cause feeding problems or poor combustion, so don’t rely on the bags to protect them outdoors.

Is the packaging waterproof?

No. The pellets come in plastic bags, but these are not fully waterproof.

Pallets are plastic wrapped for the journey. The wrapping provides temporary protection from bad weather, but it isn’t intended for outdoor storage. Please make sure you can move the bags under cover when they arrive.

Check with your local authority to find out whether the plastic packaging can be recycled in your area.

What should I know about delivery?

Delivery to most Mainland UK postcodes is included in the pallet prices shown. Offshore and some mainland addresses may have an additional charge, which can be checked using our postcode checker.

Express Packs are sent with APC. They offer a next-working-day service to most of the UK, although some areas take two to five days. Next-working-day delivery isn’t guaranteed.

Pallet orders are delivered kerbside by The Pallet Network (TPN), normally on an 18-tonne lorry with a tail lift.

If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, your order must weigh no more than 720kg. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and request the smaller vehicle in your order notes. A full pallet weighs 960kg, so it cannot be delivered on the smaller vehicle.

Please read our full pallet delivery information before ordering. If you’re unsure about access to your property, call us on 01387 731 210.

DELIVERY INCLUDED TO MOST UK MAINLAND ADDRESSES. Check for Surcharges

Due to industry regulation changes, if you require a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle the maximum pallet weight you can order is 720kgs. If you are unsure what vehicle size you need please phone us on 01387 731 210 to discuss your requirements.

Pallet Orders are delivered by our partner couriers, TPN, not our own drivers.

Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.

The maximum weight of a pallet for non-restricted access deliveries is 980kg.

Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.

A good guide is to expect the driver to leave your pallet where your bin goes out for collection.

If TPN are unable to deliver to the kerbside of your property, for example because of access restrictions which mean a 7.5t vehicle will not be able to get to the property’s kerbside, we will need to put special delivery arrangements in place. These arrangements may incur additional charges, for which you, the customer, are responsible. If you think you may need alternative arrangements please let us know prior to ordering so we can get a quote for you.

Express Packs:

Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.

We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.
