ENVI XL Briquettes – Extra-Large Hardwood Blocks for Large Stoves

ENVI XL briquettes are extra-large, clean-burning hardwood blocks made for big, hungry stoves. Their size and density give a long, hot burn, helping to reduce how often you need to add more fuel.

Each block weighs around 2.7kg and cannot be broken, so check the measurements carefully before ordering. ENVI XL will be too large for many smaller stoves.

What are ENVI XL briquettes made from?

ENVI XL briquettes are made from clean, kiln-dried oak and hard maple sawdust.

The sawdust comes from sustainably sourced hardwood and is a by-product of timber prepared for other industries. Trees aren’t felled specifically to produce these briquettes.

There are no additives, chemicals or artificial binders. The untreated wood by-product is held together by compression alone.

What are they like to burn?

ENVI XL gives a long, hot burn once the fire is properly established. The large, dense blocks have little to no expansion and continue producing useful heat as they burn down.

Actual burn time will depend on your stove, flue and airflow settings.

Which stoves are ENVI XL suitable for?

ENVI XL is designed for large stoves that need plenty of fuel. We find these briquettes are best suited to stoves rated at 5kW or more.

They’re unlikely to fit into a stove rated at 4kW or less, although firebox sizes vary. Always check the block dimensions against the space inside your stove before ordering.

If ENVI XL is too large for your appliance, the smaller ENVI8 briquettes may be more suitable.

Can ENVI XL briquettes be broken?

No. ENVI XL blocks are extremely dense and cannot be broken.

Each block measures approximately 25.4cm × 10cm × 10cm, so it’s important to check that they’ll fit comfortably inside your stove before buying them.

Can I use ENVI XL in a small stove?

No. ENVI XL is not suitable for most small stoves.

Because the blocks cannot be broken, they need a large enough firebox to accommodate their full size. For a smaller appliance, choose a more compact briquette.

Can ENVI XL be used for overnight burning?

ENVI XL can be suitable for overnight burning in some stoves. Their large size and density allow them to give a long burn, and some appliances may retain heat overnight.

Results will depend on the stove and its airflow settings. We don’t recommend smouldering the briquettes by closing the airflow too far, as this increases the amount of unburned particulates released into the atmosphere.

Do ENVI XL briquettes expand?

They have little to no expansion while burning.

Even so, you should make sure each block fits comfortably inside your firebox and isn’t positioned against the stove glass.

How should ENVI XL briquettes be stored?

ENVI XL must be kept completely dry.

A watertight shed, dry garage, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding is suitable. The packs can also be kept inside your home or in a watertight plastic garden store.

Don’t store them in a traditional open log store, an uncovered outdoor area or a damp building. Briquettes are already very dry and will absorb moisture if exposed to it. Once damp, they begin to expand and can eventually turn back into sawdust.

Is the packaging waterproof?

No. ENVI XL packs are plastic wrapped, but the wrapping isn’t always fully sealed or waterproof. Its purpose is to hold the blocks together rather than protect them during outdoor storage.

Pallets are also wrapped in plastic for transport. This provides temporary protection from poor weather but isn’t suitable for long-term outdoor storage. Make sure you can move the fuel under cover or protect the pallet when it arrives.

What quantities can I order?

ENVI XL briquettes are available in several quantities:

• Mix Your Own Pallet: one 8.2kg pack
• Quarter Pallet: 26 packs—approximately 213kg
• Half Pallet: 52 packs—approximately 426kg
• Three-Quarter Pallet: 78 packs—approximately 639kg
• Full Pallet: 105 packs—861kg

What should I know about delivery?

All displayed pallet prices include mainland UK delivery. Offshore addresses may have an additional charge, which can be checked using our postcode checker.

Pallet orders are delivered kerbside by The Pallet Network (TPN), normally on an 18-tonne lorry fitted with a tail lift.

If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, your order must weigh no more than 720kg. A full pallet of ENVI XL therefore cannot be delivered on the smaller vehicle. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and request a 7.5-tonne vehicle in your order notes.
