Description

Goldies Heat Logs – Softwood Nestro for Small Stoves

Goldies are premium-grade softwood heat logs made from sawdust sourced from sustainably managed Scottish forests. Shorter than a standard Nestro, they’re particularly well suited to smaller stoves and open fires.

They give excellent heat with an attractive flame, while the hole through the centre improves airflow and helps them burn well.

What are Goldies Heat Logs made from?

Goldies are made from mixed softwood sawdust from sustainably managed Scottish forests. The sawdust is compressed into short, dense Nestro heat logs.

They contain no additives, chemicals or artificial binders. The untreated wood by-product is held together by compression alone.

What are they like to burn?

Goldies produce excellent heat with an attractive flame. Their active burn time is approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, although this will vary depending on your stove, flue and airflow settings.

The hole through the centre allows air to move through the log, helping it burn evenly.

Which stoves are Goldies suitable for?

At approximately 200mm long, Goldies are a good choice for smaller stoves where a standard Nestro heat log may be too large.

They can also be broken into smaller pieces when lighting the fire or when using them in a particularly small firebox.

If you’re unsure whether Goldies are right for your stove, our Wood Briquette Finder can help.

Can I use Goldies on an open fire?

Yes. Goldies are suitable for open fires as well as wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves.

Their compact size makes them easy to position, and they provide strong heat with a lively, attractive flame.

Do I need to break them before burning?

Goldies are shorter than standard Nestro heat logs, so they may fit into your stove without being broken.

However, you can break them into smaller pieces when starting the fire or if your stove has a very small firebox. Make sure there is enough room for the fuel to burn safely without pressing against the stove glass.

Can Goldies be used in a Smoke Control Area?

Goldies are suitable for use in Smoke Control Areas when burned in a DEFRA-approved appliance.

They’re Ready to Burn certified and meet FSC standards. You can find out more in our guide to Ready to Burn wood fuel.

How should Goldies Heat Logs be stored?

Goldies must be kept completely dry.

A watertight shed, dry garage, porch, conservatory or dry outbuilding is suitable. They can also be stored inside your home or in a watertight plastic garden store.

Don’t keep them in a traditional open log store, an uncovered outdoor area or a damp building. Heat logs are already very dry and will absorb moisture if exposed to it. Once damp, they begin to expand and can eventually turn back into sawdust.

Is the packaging waterproof?

No. The packs are wrapped in plastic to hold the heat logs together, but the wrapping isn’t always fully sealed or waterproof.

Pallets are also plastic wrapped to protect them during transport. This provides temporary protection from the weather but isn’t suitable for outdoor storage. Make sure you can move the fuel under cover or protect it when it arrives.

Please check with your local authority to see whether the packaging can be recycled in your area.

What quantities can I order?

Goldies are available in several quantities:

What should I know about delivery?

All displayed pallet prices include delivery to most mainland UK addresses. Offshore addresses may have an additional charge, which can be checked using our postcode checker.

Pallet orders are delivered kerbside by The Pallet Network (TPN), normally on an 18-tonne lorry with a tail lift.

If you need a smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle, your order must weigh no more than 720kg. This means the three-quarter and full pallets cannot be delivered on a 7.5-tonne vehicle. Select the Access Restrictions option at checkout and request the smaller vehicle in your order notes.

You’ll find more information in our pallet delivery guide. If you’re unsure whether a lorry can reach your property, call us on 01387 731 210 before ordering.

Why choose Goldies Heat Logs?

Goldies are compact, high-quality heat logs made from sustainably sourced Scottish softwood sawdust. Their shorter length makes them particularly convenient for smaller stoves, although they also burn well on open fires.

They provide excellent heat with an attractive flame, contain no additives or chemicals, and are FSC and Ready to Burn certified.

Choose the quantity you need from the options above and add it to your basket.

DELIVERY INCLUDED TO MOST UK MAINLAND ADDRESSES. Check for Surcharges

Due to industry regulation changes, if you require a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle the maximum pallet weight you can order is 720kgs. If you are unsure what vehicle size you need please phone us on 01387 731 210 to discuss your requirements.

Pallet Orders are delivered by our partner couriers, TPN, not our own drivers.

Your goods are delivered on a pallet, the footprint of which is usually approximately 1.2m x 1m. The height of the pallet depends on the products you’ve ordered but may be up to two metres high.

The maximum weight of a pallet for non-restricted access deliveries is 980kg.

Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this.

A good guide is to expect the driver to leave your pallet where your bin goes out for collection.

If TPN are unable to deliver to the kerbside of your property, for example because of access restrictions which mean a 7.5t vehicle will not be able to get to the property’s kerbside, we will need to put special delivery arrangements in place. These arrangements may incur additional charges, for which you, the customer, are responsible. If you think you may need alternative arrangements please let us know prior to ordering so we can get a quote for you.

For detailed information on pallet deliveries, please see our dedicated page.

Express Packs:

Wood Fuel express pack orders are sent with APC, who offer a Next Working Day service to most of the UK. Some areas are on a 2-5 day service, so if you need your order urgently please check with us first.

We do not guarantee Next Working Day delivery, although we will always dispatch your order as quickly as possible to ensure it has the best chance of arriving when you need it. Orders placed after 12pm will generally be dispatched the next day, or on Monday if placed after 12pm on a Friday.

For further information on delivery, please see our dedicated page.

Restricted Access

Our pallet courier will normally deliver your order on an 18 tonne lorry with a tail lift. This means the kerbside of your property must be accessible to a large vehicle. If a bin lorry can access the road then an 18 tonne lorry should be able to as well but it will be up to the driver to determine this. As a guide, please check the measurements:

Length of vehicle: 11 metres; Height of vehicle 4 metres. 18T & 7.5T vehicles are the same width.

The driver may not be able to access your road if there are:
• low overhead lines or low hanging branches
• low bridges or bridges with weight limits
• narrow access roads that prevent the vehicle manoeuvering/turning

Restricted Access
If you think that an 18 tonne lorry will not be able to access your road, we can ask TPN to use a smaller vehicle. For this option, please ensure:
• your order weighs no more than 720kg
• you tick the ‘Access Restrictions’ button at checkout
• you put in your order notes that you require a 7.5T vehicle

7.5T is the smallest vehicle we can request. If you’re not sure, please phone us on 01387 731 210 and we can check your access for you.

Storing Your Briquettes

We recommend storing your briquettes indoors only.

DO store your briquettes in:
    • Watertight shed
    • Dry garage
    • Porch or conservatory
    • Inside house
    • Dry outbuildings
    • Some plastic garden stores, as long as they are watertight
DO NOT store your briquettes in:
    • Traditional log stores
    • Uncovered, outdoor areas
    • Buildings that are damp or have high humiditiy levels
Traditional log stores are open or vented. This is because logs require airflow around them to keep them dry. Briquettes are already dry so if they are exposed to moisture they will start to expand. This makes them useless for burning. Storing your briquettes the right way is really important. A damp briquette will just turn back into sawdust!

Packaging

To keep them in good condition, these briquettes come in plastic wrapped packs. Please check with your local authority for recycling facilities. Packs are plastic wrapped but not always fully sealed, as the pakaging is there to hold the briquettes in place, not to waterproof them. Please take this into account when deciding where to store your briquettes. Pallets will arrive wrapped in plastic to protect them during their journey. This plastic will temporarily protect them from inclement weather but is not suitable for outside storage. Please ensure you are able to cover/protect the pallet if you are not able to put it under cover immediately.
