Small Stove Mix
From time to time we may substitute products with others that are equally suited to the mix and of equal or greater value.
Baby Beech are made from pure beech sawdust shavings.
RUF Blocks are a dense RUF briquette made from either oak or birch sawdust.
Hotmax are made from the waste fines (bark and wood) left over from the manufacture of horse bedding shavings.
Waxlings are made from wood wool soaked in wax.
Hotmax are easy to light, producing a quick heat with an excellent flame. They make a great kindling, but can also last a couple of hours.
Baby Beech are a first class small briquette. They do not expand and retain their shape when more briquettes are added during the burn time. Being very dense they burn long and hot with good flame characteristics. They will even last overnight on a small stove. These briquettes are excellent for producing a good ‘heart’ in your fire.
RUF Blocks are easy-to-use briquettes which give out steady heat with a nice flame. They burn for around two to three hours depending on airflow and they give off good heat for the duration of their burn time. They are excellent as a ‘heat sink’ in the back of the fire.
Waxlings are an excellent non-toxic lighter. They contain only wood wool soaked in candle and beeswax. Sometimes we find the Waxlings a little too tightly compacted, in which case give the Waxling a twist in order to loosen the fibres. This will make them easier to light.
An easy to use mix of products that are ideal for a small stove. Easy to light and giving good heat over a long period, this mixture of briquettes will suit most small stoves.
None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

All these briquettes come in a plastic outer. Please check with your local authority for recycling facilities.
The briquetting industry uses plastic to wrap wood briquettes in order to ensure they stay dry, as damp briquettes break up and are unsuitable for burning. The environmental impact of our products is important to us, so we are constantly working with our suppliers to improve the sustainability of their packaging by using cardboard in place of plastic wherever possible.
