Baby Beech are made in the Czech Republic from pure beech sawdust, which is quite fine and so produces a very dense, dust-free briquette. The beech sawdust comes from a company producing high-end beech furniture.
Each briquette weighs around 1.3kg, and is perfect for smaller stoves up to about 7kw. This is a truly excellent small briquette, five stars from me! They’re very highly compressed, so they produce little or no dust. It is this density gives them a good long ‘glow time’. They generate excellent heat with an attractive flame and hold their form whilst burning. There is virtually no expansion whilst burning, so in most stoves of around 5kw it is possible to put on full size briquettes without the need to crack them in half. In my 5kw stove I can close down the air flow at night and still have a warm stove next morning, with enough hot embers to relight with just one Waxling firelighter. Also, the stove glass stays clean even with a low over-night tickover.
Great for both stoves and open fires, Baby Beech produce a lot of heat with an excellent flame. They hold their shape and do not expand more than about an inch in length whilst burning.
None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

Plastic is widely used for wrapping briquettes, in order to ensure that they stay dry, as a damp briquette will break up and be unsuitable for burning. The environmental impact of our products is important to us, so we are constantly working with our suppliers to improve the sustainability of their packaging by using cardboard in place of plastic wherever possible.
