Homefire Ecoal Smokeless Fuel

Homefire Ecoal is a lower-CO₂ smokeless fuel for open fires and multi-fuel stoves. It is easy to light, gives plenty of heat and burns with an attractive flame.

Ecoal combines anthracite with crushed olive stones, a natural by-product of olive oil production. It produces less smoke and carbon dioxide than house coal and burns for longer, so you may need less fuel to produce the same amount of heat.

What is Homefire Ecoal made from?

Homefire Ecoal is made from a blend containing anthracite and 50% crushed olive stones. Molasses is also used during manufacture.

The olive stones are left over from olive oil production. They are replenished by the olive harvest each year and might otherwise be discarded.

What is Ecoal like to burn?

Ecoal is easy to light and produces high, sustained heat with an attractive flame.

The individual pieces have a large hexagonal shape and measure around 75mm × 40mm. This allows air to move around the fuel, helping it burn well and release plenty of heat.

Individual bags cost more than some traditional fuels, but Ecoal can work out cheaper to use because less fuel may be needed to produce the same amount of heat.

Actual performance and burning time will depend on your appliance, chimney or flue, airflow settings and the amount of fuel used.

Homefire Ecoal is designed for:

What quantities can I order?

Homefire Ecoal is supplied in 25kg bags and is available in the following quantities:

• Mix Your Own Pallet: 1 × 25kg bag
• Quarter pallet: 10 × 25kg bags – 250kg
• Half pallet: 20 × 25kg bags – 500kg
• Three-quarter pallet: 30 × 25kg bags – 750kg
• Full pallet: 40 × 25kg bags – 1,000kg

Is delivery included?

Delivery to most UK mainland postcodes is included in the pallet prices shown.

Some mainland and offshore addresses carry an additional surcharge. Enter your postcode using our postcode checker to confirm the delivery charge for your address.

Pallet orders are delivered by Palletline. Standard delivery normally takes 2–3 working days from dispatch, although dispatch may take a little longer during busy periods. Someone must be present to receive the order.

How will my pallet be delivered?

Delivery is made at the kerbside using a tail-lift vehicle and manual pallet truck.

The delivery point must have a firm, flat and level surface. Pallets cannot be moved safely over gravel, grass, steep slopes, steps or uneven ground.

Deliveries are normally made on an 18-tonne vehicle. As a rough guide, if a bin lorry can reach your property, an 18-tonne delivery vehicle should normally be able to reach it too. The driver will make the final decision about whether access is safe.

The pallet will normally be left at the kerbside or where your bins are placed for collection.

What if access to my property is restricted?

A smaller 7.5-tonne vehicle can carry no more than 720kg. It may therefore be requested for a quarter or half pallet of Homefire Ecoal.

The three-quarter pallet weighs 750kg and the full pallet weighs 1,000kg. Neither can be delivered on a 7.5-tonne vehicle, so both require suitable access for an 18-tonne delivery vehicle.

If you require the smaller vehicle, select the access-restrictions option at checkout and add your request to the order notes. A 7.5-tonne vehicle is the smallest delivery vehicle we can request.
