Wood Briquettes vs Traditional Logs — what’s the difference?
We often get asked to compare wood briquettes vs traditional logs, so we thought we’d share a few facts.
🌲 They burn hotter and longer
Because briquettes are made from compressed, dried wood, they usually contain much less moisture than ordinary logs. This means they can give off a good amount of heat and provide a longer, more consistent burn.
🔥 Less moisture = better burning & more calorific value for your £’s
The drier the fuel, the more efficiently your stove or fire can run. Briquettes are designed to burn cleanly and steadily when used correctly.
🪵Made from 100% pure wood
All our wood briquettes are free from additives, binders, glues and other nasties. They are made from pure, untreated sawdust so the only difference between our briquettes and logs is that briquettes are drier and denser.
📦 Easy to store and use
Briquettes are neat, compact, and simple to stack away. No spiders, bugs or beasties. They’re also easy to handle and conveniently packaged compared with piles of loose logs.
🌳 A useful alternative to logs
Good quality Kiln Dried logs are still a great choice, but briquettes can be a handy option if you’re looking for a convenient fuel that delivers reliable heat.
At the end of the day, choosing the right fuel comes down to what works best for your stove, your home, and how you like to use your fire. Which is why we sell such a vast variety of different wood briquettes, kiln dried logs, smokeless fuels & traditional house coal.
Finally, don’t forget that whichever you choose, they should be Ready to Burn certified! All our logs and briquettes are Ready to Burn, so you can shop in confidence.
