Do you struggle to split wood briquettes? A lot of our customers do and it can be difficult to find a safe way to do it. We’ve even heard of people breaking their hearth trying to break some of the denser briquettes!
Finally we have a great solution, which is easy to use and saves damaging anything! Pondering this problem with his son, one of our regular customers came up with this lovely briquette splitter, which he and his son then designed for his son’s inventors’ club.
The BriqSplit is ideal for longer briquettes, such as Beech Nestro, Woodlets Heat Logs or Woodlets Briquettes, and makes breaking them very easy and low mess. Just place your briquette across the splitter, and press firmly down on it with your foot. It really is that simple, but there’s also a great introductory video which shows exactly how to use it.
Every BriqSplit is handmade in Somerset from sustainably sourced solid English Oak, which has been finished to a high standard. It’s sturdy, easy to use, and looks great next to the hearth. Add in that it supports independent craftsmen and the next generation of innovators and you have a perfect product!
We’re delighted to be stocking this hand-crafted BriqSplit. It’s a great way to split wood briquettes, so try it now!

If the BriqSplit still isn’t for you, we recommend breaking your briquettes by either tapping them firmly against each other, or some people prefer to use a small hatchet or hammer. Please don’t tap them against your hearth, mantle, log box etc as the briquette will usually damage the surface before it breaks. Breaking briquettes will leave a little bit of mess, depending on the density of the heat log, so if you prefer products that don’t need to be broken check out something like our WillowWarm, which don’t need to be broken.
