A little shorter and slimmer than the Verdos, they're dark brown in colour and have a pleasant pine fragrance. When burned they don't expand much, unlike the Verdo briquettes, but they burn hot and long. They can be broken into pieces or burned as an entire fuel log, depending on the size of the firebox or grate.
We love Hotties because they give off virtually no dust, little smoke and have lots of calorific value. Made in a purpose-built factory in Suffolk, they consist of 100% recycled, clean wood residue, all of which is sourced in the UK, which means they offer a high quality fuel that out-performs imported products whilst reducing its carbon foot print significantly.
The producers of Hotties say that they produce more heat, in terms of Kw hours per tonne (4900 kWh/t), than kiln dried logs, which are 3980 kWh/t, or seasoned logs at 3400kWh/t. Being made from densely packed recycled timber, they're very popular with pets because they don't spit!
We recommend starting your fire with our eco-friendly firelighters and either 1-2 Ezilite fire starters or one of the small cob fuels such as Hotmax, to build up the initial heat, then use Hotties or Verdo, or a mixture of both, carefully laid on top. Turn down the air intake once the larger briquettes have caught, in order to build up a hot, long-lasting fire. Enjoy the warmth!
