RUF Birch are a remarkably good briquette that belies their low cost. They’re made from fine ground birch sawdust which gives them a long burn-time with an excellent hot glow.
Because they’re square, they don’t roll in the hearth, so they’re easy and safe to use in an open fire. This is a first class briquette and will hold its own with the very best. Great value.
RUF Birch Burning characteristics:
These easy-to-use multi purpose briquettes light quickly and soon settle down to give a most excellent long and hot glow. They burn for around two to three hours depending on airflow and help create beautiful heart in your fire. They have a very clean burn and leave minimal, if any, deposit on your glass or stove internals.
These briquettes are excellent for creating a heart in your fire. They will glow long and hot in any size stove. Place two briquettes upright on their long edge in an open ‘V’ at the base of your fire. Place a lit firelighter in the centre of the ‘V’ and a pickle of traditional kindling loosly around. The fire will light quickly and rapidly come up to temperature with a lovely flame. Across the top of the two RUF Oak place a half of pretty much any other good quality briquette – Baby Beech, Baby Energo, Blazers, Beech Nestro, etc. That combination should burn for about an hour before you top up with another briquette of your choice. Don’t put more than this on to start with – it will be hot enough and generate a lovely lively flame from the start.
Our briquettes are all additive-free. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.

Plastic is widely used for wrapping briquettes in order to ensure that they stay dry. A damp briquette will break up and will be unsuitable for burning. The environmental impact of our products is important to us, so we work constantly with our suppliers to improve the sustainability of their packaging by encouraging the use of cardboard in place of plastic wherever possible.
