Hotmax is made in the UK from the fines (sawdust and bark) extracted whilst making dust free horse bedding. The wood used is all from sustainably managed British forestry.
The handy cobs are ideal for starting or reviving a fire. Use a handful of Hotmax with a Waxling firelighter in the centre to get the fire going quickly. The fact that they’re a bit smaller than some of the other briquettes makes them great for quick heat and they’re brilliant for reviving a dying fire. They’re an ideal kindling replacement but can also be a main fuel in smaller stoves.
Two or three will burn for around an hour depending on airflow.
They do expand slightly, so place them carefully in the fire so they don’t expand onto the glass window or hearth.
None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. They are made from pure, untreated wood by-product and are held together by compression alone.
