Merry Christmas from the Wood Fuel Co-op!

Christmas is fast approaching and the fuel is flying out of the door!

We’re finding it fascinating to hear what our customers have to say about the different fuels they’re using. One thing is clear: there’s no one single fuel that is most popular. Everyone is establishing their favourites and their choice depends on many factors: whether it’s a stove, a room heater or an open fire they’re feeding, how large the space they’re heating is, and how warm they want their rooms.

The way many folk begin is to try out a bit of everything, which is why we’re offering a trial offer of 1 pack of each of our 5 main fuels for £20, or £25 if it includes a pack of bark briquettes. This means you get:
1 bag of Ezilite fire starter briquettes
1 bag of Hotmax cobs
1 pack of Verdo fuel logs
1 pack of Hotties
1 pack of Fireblox

Once you’ve found what works best on your fire or stove, you may decide to join the Co-operative. This costs £99 for Life Membership, refundable after a year if you decide you no longer want to be member. This entitles you to discounted prices on all our fuels and the more members we get, the lower the prices we can offer, thanks to the power of bulk buying. We can now order full lorry loads instead of half loads, which really helps to keep the prices low. In fact, because the wood briquettes have such a consistently low moisture content (typically 12% or less) they yield a higher calorific value than almost all hardwood logs.

Because of the massive upsurge in popularity of woodburners and multifuel stoves, truly dry logs (20% mc or less) are becoming increasingly difficult to source. Wood stove suppliers advise their customers to only burn really dry fuel in order to avoid damage to their stove and flue, so wood briquettes are the perfect answer.

Our Christmas and New Year opening hours are as normal excepting Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the 1st and 2nd January.

All of us here at the Wood Fuel Co-operative would like to thank all our customers for their support and enthusiasm, and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
